Drugs, lack of respect, alcohol and carelessness are some of the challenges faced by our local celebrities, last week's Sunday Sun newspaper published a story "Our entertainment industry needs guidance", this topic kept me asking myself a question of " how do these challenges face our local entertainment? why are being taken as challenges? how do they affect our local entertainment industry? and who are those individuals?. While I still on thoughts about these questions, In my mind quickly came the biggest question "Do our celebrities take this industry seriously?...
Our celebrities need to look other country's entertainment industries and take notes on how they handle this industry. According to entertainment television programme Flash (SABC3), United State is one of the good example on how to handle and control this industry: to them, music and acting are not just talents but they take it as part of their businesses that's why they're all over the world, the likes of Usher Raymond IV who was here in South Africa last week performing at the Hansa festival in Orlando stadium.

Drugs are the most challences among our artists, most of them are using drugs because they think that drugs will improve their performances.I believe that drugs will take them to nowhere.
ReplyDelete@marvee i agree with you buddy, most of our local celebs do overdo drugs as their energy boost. @mthokozisi no man Brickz is not involved in alcohol, if you are an artist you sometimes need to keep your mind down, do something to keep you relaxed
ReplyDeleteMxolisi according to Sundany Sun, Brickz is an alcoholic and beside that, last year's interview with Tholi B (YFM)he said "for now im dealing with the issue of alcohol but i promise my fans that ill be back soon"
Deletewell you mentioned how artist from the (U.S.A) set an example for good entertainment sustainabilty, though i fail to understand how can you mention that, drug problem is an issue for most celebrities be it local or international, the likes of the late, Amy Winehouse,Micheal Jackson and Whitney houston, descened from the (U.S.A),have been affected by the same problem, the it shows that drug priblem is an international issue.
ReplyDeletebut they able to balance their life and their career.look how successful are they.
Deletedepends how you define success,if you define it by how much money they make then you are not in a position to compare them with our local artist because they live in a developed country,if you define it in terms of their international recognition then again i do not see why you are comparing them to our local music, firstly we as the local market are the one's who influence the geographical scope of our artists
ReplyDeleteM not comparing them in terms of money they make but interms of "bussiness minded". Some of them dont take this industry seriously
DeleteNo mthokozisi Zola was taking his career serious even now if you may look the contribution made by Zola7,and saying that Zola is disrepectful for who?
ReplyDeleteTrot please read the following SOWETAN report (October 2011)"Zola was arrested after handing himself over to the Brixton police station yesterday. He later appeared in the Brixton Magistrate's Court in connection with an assault on Sunday World journalist Ngwako Malatji on Saturday at his house.
ReplyDeleteMalatji had gone to the musician's house in Melville, Johannesburg, for an interview when the alleged attack took place.
Malatji claimed Zola slapped him, hit him with a chair before setting his vicious dogs on him. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL REPORT OF SOWETAN NEWSPAPER (OCT 2011)
i hear what your saying Mthokozisi, the problem is that many south african celebrities want to immitate american celebrities without bearing in mind that at the end of the day music or acting is their proffesion and it has to be taken seriously
ReplyDeleteI don't see a reason for them to do drugs yes the is pressure in the industry but durgs is no solutions how do you expect to be a role model to someone if you are ding wrong yourself
ReplyDeletereally our local celebrities are not taking their jobs seriously and they tend to forget that their good image is good perception to their fans
ReplyDeleteMthokozisi, are you trying to tell me that overseas artists do not drink or use drugs? Nah man get me right I`m not trying to defend them but how often have we heard about Lil Wayne, TI, Eminem using drugs and commiting crime.
